Abstract :
Purpoe
To compare the abilitie of canning laer polarimetry (LP) with enhanced corneal compenation (ECC) and variable corneal compenation (VCC) mode for detection of retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) lo in eye with band atrophy (BA) of the optic nerve.
Deign
Cro-ectional tudy.
Method
Thirty-even eye from 37 patient with BA and temporal viual field defect from chiamal compreion and 40 eye from 40 healthy ubject were tudied. ubject underwent tandard automated perimetry and RNFL meaurement uing an LP device equipped with VCC and ECC. Receiver operating characteritic (ROC) curve were calculated for each parameter. Pearon correlation coefficient were obtained to evaluate the relationhip between RNFL thickne parameter and everity of viual field lo, a aeed by the temporal mean defect.
Reult
All RNFL thickne parameter were ignificantly lower in eye with BA compared with normal eye with both compenation mode. However, no tatitically ignificant difference were oberved in the area under the ROC curve for the different parameter between GDx VCC and ECC (Carl Zei Meditec, Inc, Dublin, California, UA). tructure-function relationhip alo were imilar for both compenation mode.
Concluion
No ignificant difference were found between the diagnotic accuracy of GDx ECC and that of VCC for detection of BA of the optic nerve. The ue of GDx ECC doe not eem to provide a better evaluation of RNFL lo on the temporal and naal ector of the peripapillary retina in ubject with BA of the optic nerve.
