Abstract :
Purpoe To evaluate outcome from the ue of a femtoecond laer to trephine both donor and recipient cornea during penetrating keratoplaty (PK). Deign Propective interventional cae erie. Method Patient were recruited from the cornea clinic of the ingapore National Eye Centre. We ued a 10-kHz Femtec (20/10 Perfect Viion, Heidelberg, Germany) femtoecond laer to perform trephination of the donor cornea on an artificial anterior chamber, followed by trephination of the recipient cornea. Trephination cut were traight and performed 90 degree to the corneal urface. Tiue bridge were bluntly eparated with a Barrett phaco chopper. The donor button wa then utured to the recipient with double continuou uture, or interrupted uture if ignificant hot corneal vacularization wa preent. Potoperatively, viual acuity, refraction, intraocular preure, and optical coherence tomography (Viante; Carl Zei, Jena, Germany) were evaluated. Reult Eight eye of eight patient underwent PK for condition ranging from bullou keratopathy to corneal carring from herpetic tromal keratiti. Patient were followed up for a mean of 9.5 month. Bet-corrected viual acuitie of patient with no ocular comorbidity ranged from 20/20 to 20/80. Mean cylindrical refractive error at lat review wa 2.56 diopter [D] (range, 0.50 to 4.00 D). Tiue bridge were bluntly diected except for one cae that required cior completion of trephination. No complication were encountered related to ue of the Femtec laer. Concluion The Femtec laer reliably trephine both donor and recipient cornea for PK, with good viual outcome and relatively low degree of atigmatim.
