Abstract :
Purpoe
To compare tructural change uing optical coherence tomography (OCT) and viual acuity (VA) lo in patient with hallow macula-off rhegmatogenou retinal detachment (RD) and central erou chorioretinopathy (CC) involving the macula.
Deign
Retropective, comparative obervational tudy.
Method
Fifteen eye with rhegmatogenou RD and 21 eye with CC with comparable height of macular detachment (≤ 550 μm) were evaluated retropectively. All eye were ubjected to complete ophthalmologic examination, including OCT analyi, and were followed up until complete reolution of RD.
Reult
The mean height ± tandard deviation at the fovea wa 290 ± 153 μm in rhegmatogenou RD and 310 ± 141 μm in CC. Although the duration of ymptom wa longer in CC than in rhegmatogenou RD (35.0 ± 38.0 day v 8.3 ± 8.0 day), initial (0.25 v 0.64 logarithm of the minimum angle of reolution [logMAR] unit; P = .001) and final VA (0.09 v 0.49 logMAR unit; P < .001) were ignificantly better in CC. OCT analyi of rhegmatogenou RD howed intraretinal cyt formation, intraretinal eparation, and undulation of outer detached retina in 10 (67%), nine (60%), and ix (40%) eye, repectively. Eye with two or more preoperative tructural change had poorer initial VA than eye with none or one tructural change. In comparion, none of the 21 CC eye howed any of thee change (P < .001).
Concluion
Compared with CC, macula-involving rhegmatogenou RD reulted in more rapid viual lo, depite imilar height of foveal detachment. tructural change on OCT may be correlated with different level of viual function in thee two condition.
