Abstract :
Purpoe
To evaluate myopia in adult with retinopathy of prematurity (ROP).
Deign
Obervational cae erie.
Method
Axial length (AL), corneal radiu (CR), and AL/CR ratio were meaured in myopic adult with ROP uing ultraound A-can biometry and keratometry, repectively.
Reult
Twenty-five eye of 18 patient (mean age, 48 year) were tudied. Mean getational age at birth wa 29 week. The average refraction wa −5.23 diopter, AL 24.43 mm, CR 7.45 mm, and AL/CR ratio 3.28. On average, myopic adult with ROP had a horter AL and decreaed CR (increaed corneal curvature), but a imilar AL/CR ratio, relative to adult with the ame degree of myopia who were born full-term. Myopic adult with ROP alo had increaed len thickne (LT) and hallow anterior chamber depth (ACD).
Concluion
Myopic adult with ROP had a horter AL and maller CR than expected for their degree of myopia. However, AL/CR ratio for thee patient were imilar to the value of adult who were born full-term. Thee reult ugget that the refractive element mot reponible for myopia in adult with ROP i higher corneal curvature (decreaed CR), wherea the predominant factor in adult myopic individual who were born full-term i increaed AL. We believe that increaed LT and hallow ACD make a leer contribution to myopia in adult with ROP.
