Aociation with Intraocular Preure in Latino: The Lo Angele Latino Eye tudy Original Reearch Article

Purpoe To evaluate the aociation of biologic factor with intraocular preure (IOP) in a Latino population. Deign Population-baed cro-ectional tudy. Method Latino 40 year and older (n = 5,958) from the Lo Angele Latino Eye tudy without a hitory of ocular hypotenive treatment underwent an interviewer-adminitered quetionnaire and a complete ocular and clinical examination. IOP wa obtained by applanation tonometry and wa baed on the mean of three meaurement. Multivariable regreion model were ued to evaluate the independent aociation of biological factor with IOP. Reult Higher ytolic blood preure, higher central corneal thickne, and diabete mellitu were the major factor aociated with elevated IOP. Other poitively correlated variable included age, female gender, higher diatolic blood preure, larger body ma index, darker colored iride, and nuclear cleroi. Axial length and family hitory of glaucoma had no aociation with IOP. Concluion everal ytemic and ocular characteritic are aociated with elevated IOP in Latino. By identifying and recognizing thee rik factor, we can define ubgroup of the population that may be mot at rik of having elevated IOP.
