Abstract :
Purpoe
To evaluate the effect of bevacizumab pretreatment combined with intravitreal infuion of C3F8 10% on the clearance peed of early potoperative vitreou hemorrhage in diabetic vitrectomy for eye with active fibrovacular proliferation.
Deign
Propective, nonrandomized, comparative cae tudy.
Method
ixteen eye (15 patient) that underwent primary par plana vitrectomy for active proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR) were propectively enrolled with a follow-up period of ix month or more. Thee cae received an intravitreal injection of bevacizumab (1.25 mg/0.05 ml) one week prior to urgery and intravitreal C3F8 10% infuion during urgery. The everity of intraoperative bleeding, vitreou clear-up time, percentage of prolonged vitreou clear-up (≥ three week), and recurrent hemorrhage repectively were compared with thoe in a control group (24 eye in 24 patient) that received ga infuion alone.
Reult
The everity of intraoperative bleeding wa ignificantly lower in the tudy group than in the control group. Vitreou clear-up time for the tudy group and the control group wa 7.2 ± 5.6 day and 15.2 ± 11.4 day, repectively (P = .04). Prolonged vitreou clear-up time (≥ three week) wa oberved in one of 16 (6.3%) and nine of 24 (37.5%) of the cae, repectively (P = .03). Early recurrent vitreou hemorrhage rate in the two group were zero of 16 (0%) and one of 24 (4.2%), repectively (P = .41). Multiple logitic regreion analye howed that bevacizumab pretreatment reduced vitreou clear-up time.
Concluion
Bevacizumab pretreatment combined with C3F8 10% infuion could be an effective adjunct to vitrectomy in accelerating potoperative vitreou clear-up for eye with active PDR.
