Abstract :
Purpoe
To evaluate long-term intraocular preure (IOP) fluctuation in patient with glaucoma or ocular hypertenion treated with bimatoprot or latanoprot.
Deign
Pot hoc analyi of propectively collected data from a previouly reported multicenter, invetigator-maked, randomized clinical trial of bimatoprot and latanoprot.
Method
Patient were treated bilaterally with bimatoprot (n = 133) or latanoprot (n = 136) for ix month. IOP meaurement were taken at 8 am, 12 pm, and 4 pm at baeline, week 1, and month 1, 3, and 6. Long-term IOP fluctuation during treatment wa determined a the tandard deviation (D) of all 12 follow-up meaurement.
Reult
There wa no ignificant between-group difference in hort-term daily IOP fluctuation at baeline. Long-term IOP fluctuation over ix month of treatment [mean D (range D)] wa 1.9 (0.5 to 6.3) mm Hg with latanoprot v 1.7 (0.5 to 3.9) mm Hg with bimatoprot (P = .050). Latanoprot-treated eye were more likely than bimatoprot-treated eye to have long-term IOP fluctuation of ≥3 mm Hg (7.8% v 2.5% of eye; P = .009).
Concluion
Bimatoprot-treated eye demontrated le long-term fluctuation in IOP compared with latanoprot-treated eye in thi ix-month tudy. Additional tudie are needed to confirm thee finding and to determine their impact on glaucomatou progreion.
