Abstract
Purpoe
To evaluate the beneficial effect of intravenou thrombolyi aiming at rapid retoration of blood flow during the early hour of a central retinal artery occluion (CRAO).
Deign
Interventional cae erie.
Method
In the preent tudy, we propectively evaluated the viual outcome after thrombolytic treatment with low-doe (50 mg) rt-PA (recombinant tiue plaminogen activator) and concomitant intravenou heparinization in patient with acute CRAO, bet-corrected viual acuity (BCVA) ≤ 20/100, and onet of ymptom within 12 hour prior to treatment.
Reult
Twenty-eight patient (28 eye) were included in thi tudy. Final viual acuity wa improved three or more line in nine eye (32%), table in 18 (64%), and wore in one eye. Time to treatment ≤ 6.5 hour wa aociated with a better gain of line of viion (P = .004). even of 17 eye (41%) that received thrombolytic treatment within the firt 6.5 hour achieved a final BCVA ≥ 20/50, compared to none in the ubgroup of patient with onet to treatment >6.5 hour (P = .023). We oberved no eriou advere event.
Concluion
Our finding indicate that thrombolytic treatment with intravenou low-doe rt-PA i of value for an improved viual recovery in patient with acute CRAO, if adminitered within the firt 6.5 hour after the onet of ymptom.
