Abstract :
Purpoe
To evaluate the reproducibility of new criteria for grading the ite and activity of intraocular inflammation.
Deign
Cro-ectional agreement tudy.
Method
Grading of 202 eye of 101 patient with uveiti wa conducted by pair of uveiti ubpecialit at three uveiti ubpecialty clinic. Agreement in grading location of inflammation, anterior chamber (AC) cell, AC flare, vitreou cell (preent or abent), and vitreou haze wa calculated.
Reult
Propoed criteria for grading the location of intraocular inflammation had moderate reproducibility (κ range, 0.49 to 0.61). Reproducibility improved (κ range, 0.61 to 0.73) when the newly propoed category of anterior and intermediate uveiti wa excluded. The range of κ tatitic for exact agreement on grading of AC cell (range, 0.34 to 0.43) demontrated low to moderate level of agreement, and grading of AC flare (range, 0.50 to 0.64), vitreou cell (range, 0.48 to 0.51), and vitreou haze (0.53) were in the moderate agreement range. However, agreement within 1 grade wa outtanding for AC cell (κ range, 0.81 to 1.00) and vitreou haze (κ, 0.75). For AC flare, a ditribution kewed toward low grade within 1 grade made κ tatitic untable.
Concluion
Propoed method for grading inflammatory activity have moderate reproducibility for exact agreement in mot intance. However, agreement within 1 grade i excellent for grading of AC cell and vitreou haze. The method for grading the ite of intraocular inflammation alo produce moderate level of agreement, and in our hand wa improved by excluding both anterior and intermediate uveiti. Improved method for grading AC flare and vitreou cell are needed.
