Abstract :
Purpoe To etimate the rik of tructural ocular complication and lo of viual acuity (VA) in cae of Behçet dieae (BD) and to evaluate potential rik and protective factor for thee event. Deign Retropective cohort tudy. Method A total of 168 conecutive patient with BD-aociated ocular inflammation treated at five academic center ocular inflammation ubpecialty practice were included. Clinical data for thee patient were acertained by tandardized chart review. Main outcome meaure included VA, tructural ocular complication of inflammation, and intraocular preure (IOP). Reult Over a median follow-up of 1.05 year, the incidence of pecific tructural complication and IOP diturbance were common: the incidence rate of any ocular complication wa 0.45 per eye-year (EY). Rate of lo of VA to 20/50 or wore and to 20/200 or wore were 0.12 per EY and 0.09 per EY, repectively. Rik factor for lo of VA during follow-up were peritent inflammatory activity, preence of poterior ynechiae, preence of hypotony, and preence of elevated IOP. In a time-dependent analyi, current activity of ocular inflammation wa aociated with an increaed rik of lo of VA to 20/50 or wore (relative rik [RR], 2.45; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.1 to 5.5; P = .03) and to 20/200 or wore (RR, 2.67; 95% CI, 1.2 to 5.8; P = .01). Concluion Lo of VA and occurrence of ocular complication were common in patient with ocular inflammation aociated with BD, even with aggreive therapy. Ongoing inflammation during follow-up, preence or occurrence of poterior ynechiae, hypotony, and elevated IOP were aociated with an increaed rik of lo of VA.
