Abstract :
Purpoe
To evaluate the rate of flare in patient with uveitic glaucoma treated with topical bimatoprot and to ae it effect on intraocular preure (IOP) in thi ubet of patient.
Deign
Retropective cae erie.
Method
All patient een at one ubpecialty uveiti practice with hitory of uveitic glaucoma treated with topical bimatoprot were identified and the data collected, which included onet, type, duration of uveiti, onet of econdary glaucoma, and previou therapie for glaucoma. The time of onet of bimatoprot therapy, the IOP, and flare-up rate before and after initiation of treatment with bimatoprot were recorded at one week and one, three, and ix month of follow-up.
Reult
Of the 42 patient (59 eye) identified, 12 patient had ued other topical lipid agent, which were replaced by bimatoprot. Twenty-three patient had not ued any lipid agent and bimatoprot wa added to their exiting antiglaucoma regimen. even patient were newly diagnoed with uveitic glaucoma and were commenced with topical bimatoprot. The rate of uveiti flare while on other antiglaucoma therapy wa 52 per 100 peron-year follow-up, while on bimatoprot therapy it wa 32.4 per 100 peron-year follow-up (P = .206). The mean IOP prior to bimatoprot therapy wa 27 ± 13.2 mm Hg and after initiation of topical bimatoprot wa 15 ± 5.5 mm Hg at the end of ix month (P = .0008).
Concluion
Thee data ugget that bimatoprot i an effective IOP-lowering agent in patient with uveitic glaucoma in whom the uveiti i controlled on immunomodulatory therapy, and it doe not increae the rate of flare of uveiti in thee patient.
