For women with abnormal uterine anatomy that would make operative abortion technically difficult or impossible, a medically induced abortion may be the only option for pregnancy termination. Methotrexate and misoprostol were used to effect an early abortion in a woman with a markedly enlarged leiomyomatous uterus. (Am J Obstet Gynecol 1996;175:1379-80.)
