Posthumous reproduction in a human immunodeficiency virus–discordant couple

A human immunodeficiency virus–discordant couple failed to conceive through in vitro fertilization and intracytoplasmic sperm injection of cryopreserved semen banked by the human immunodeficiency virus–positive partner. The husband subsequently had acquired immunodeficiency syndrome and died. The subsequent transfer of cryopreserved embryos resulted in pregnancy.
