Pyridiniodithioacetate and its first stable metal complex

The crystal structures of pyridiniodithioacetate (pydta)1 and its first stable metal complex, [Cd(pydta)2Cl2]2, have been determined; intermolecular C–HS hydrogen bonds play a dominant role in determining the molecular packing of both structures, and 2 is further stabilized by the presence of weak C–HCl interactions.
