Abstract :
In this paper we characterize the left Jordan derivations on Banach algebras. Also, it is shown that every bounded linear map d : A ?M from a von Neumann algebra A into a Banach A?module M with property that d(p2) = 2pd(d) for every projection p in A is a left Jordan derivation.
