Photoclinic Diagnosis: Primary alveolar soft part sarcoma of bone

The patient was a 20-year-old male, who suffered from swelling of the left heel for two years. He had previous incisional biopsy with inconclusive result one year before his admission. X-ray showed a welldefined large lytic lesion with relative sclerotic margin in his calcaneus bone. Computerized tomography (CT) scan revealed cortical destruction with the lesion almost entirely occupying the calcaneus bone. Whole body three-phase isotope bone scan showed an increased uptake in the left calcaneus. The lesion, which was highly vascular, approached through the previous incision. Curettage of the lesion was performed and the cavity was filled with bone graft substitute materials.
