Abstract :
The effect of two (sucrose and galactose) saccharides on the germination and growth of Tasai sprouts (Brassica var. Narinosa) was investigated. The weight percentages of sucrose and galactose solutions for chemical treatment were 1%, 3%, 5%, and 7%, respectively. After the chemical treatment of Tasai sprout seeds with sucrose and galactose solutions for required time, the treated seeds were germinated and grown according to the planned germination time(for 2 days) and growth period(after 7 days). Sucrose than galactose exhibited the higher effect on growth of the Tasai sprouts and chemical treatment in short time displayed the large effect on the growth. 13 experimental groups(7 groups for sucrose and 6 groups for galactose) among 24 experimental groups in both saccharides had over 10 % in growth ratio (experimental versus control). The largest growth (5min and 5% of sucrose) among the treatments of two sugars was 74.14% and sucrose and galactose showed the characteristics of growth factor.
