Abstract :
Hydroxamic acids (RCONHOH), form highly stable complexes with vanadium (iv) in 1:2 molar ration in aqueous solution at equilibrium. . the stability constant of the complexes were. The stability constant of the complexes were determined through spectro photometric method at various pH. A spectroscopic investigation of reactions of these hydroxamic acids with vanadium (iv), shows that their Pkaʹs are 9.86 ± 0.03, and 8.68 ±0.02, respectively. Cyclohexalacetohydroxamic acid (CHAH) and Nicotinohydroxamic acid (NHA) were selected for the study. Spectra and magnetic studies of the isolated complexes indicate five coordinate square pyramidal coordination via (N) for bonding mode for VOIV - CHAH and oxygen atom of the hydroxamate group VOIV in nicotinohydroxamates. Microbial sensitivity test shows no activity.
