Phytochemical and pharmacological review on Butea monosperma (Palash)

Butea monosperma (lim.) Kuntz known as flam of forest is being used in traditional medicines. It has been found to have antimicrobial, wound healing, antifungal, anti-diarrhoeal, hypoglycemic, hepatoprotective, antioxidant, antihelmintic, anti-convulsive, antistress, anti diabetic, anti-inflammatory activity. It also used in treatment of goiter, spermatorrhoea and antidote for snake bite. It contains butrin, isobutrin, butin, palasitrin, and butein.
