Abstract :
ABSTRACT: The idea of using mental practice to enhance performance has recently become common. In this procedure, participants are asked to rehearse a motor or cognitive skill by using mental imagery of themselves performing it successfully, without any overt behavior or muscular activity on their part.. Thus, the purpose of the present research is to study the mental practice ability of male and female squash players. 320 male and female athletes (180 men and 140 women) participating in individual squash tournaments form the population of the research of which 35 men and 35 women were selected as sample using simple random sampling. The present research is descriptive-comparative where field method is used for data collection. The measurement material includes 2 questionnaires (VVIQ and VMIQ). Descriptive statistics and t-test for independent samples are used for data analysis. The results indicated that there is a significant difference between male and female squash players in internal and external imagery ability as well as mean internal and external imagery scores, suggesting that male athletes have higher internal and external imagery ability.
