Abstract :
In order to study effects seed density (180,250and320seed/m2) on dry matter yield, seed yield and yield components were evaluated in two cultivar (Vicia ervilia mergh , Vicia dasycarpa 2446) under spring season seeding conditions during the 2005-2006 and 2006-2007 growing seasons. Dry matter yield, plant height, number of pods per plant, number of seeds per plant, 1000- seed weight, biomass yield and seed yield were measured. Based on the 2-year results, no significant differences were found among two cultivars in any of the measured characteristics with the exception of 1000- seed weight. However, seed density significantly affected dry matter, seed yield and most of the yield components. High seed density resulted in greater dry matter and seed yield than the low seed density in both years.
