Abstract :
ABSTRACT: The significance and influence of water in the economic, social, cultural and political life of nations are not unknown to anyone. The history of human evolution is replete with clear examples of the role and importance of water in the emergence and development, or the destruction of, human communities. However, ignoring this role over time has made the water resources of earth susceptible to destruction and has led to the emergence of new deserts: Hence “water crisis” as a global issue. According to available statistics, water consumption grew ten times in the 20th century while there was no change in the resources. This phenomenon has led to an increase in demand for water, an increase in water extraction, and as a result to imbalance in nature, environmental degradation and social problems. Water crisis in arid and semi-arid areas, as in the Qahavand prairie of Hamadan, Iran, is much worse and the resulting problems are much more serious. Inappropriate cultivation patterns and cultivating crops with high water consumption fuel this crisis more than ever in the province, particularly in the Qahavand prairie
