  • Abstract
The current research aimed to comparative study and relationship between principalʹs Leadership Styles with Organizational Commitment of Physical Education Teachers. This study was descriptive-correlative, which was done by field study. Statistical population was all male and female physical education teachers in three grades (elementary, guidance and high school) of Ramhormoz city in 2011-2012. Due to the limitation of participations, Census sampling method was used (N=n=107). Instruments for gathering data were a researcher- made questionnaire for individual characteristics, standard multifactor leadership questionnaire (Buss & Oliev, 1995); and standard institutional commitment questionnaire (Allen & Meyer, 1990). The reliability of questionnaires was calculated via alpha cronbakh 89% & 81% respectively. Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics (Pearson correlation coefficient, Kolmogrove-Smirnove, and t-test). Results showed there was significant positive relationship between practical and transformational leadership style of managers with physical education teachers` organizational commitment; but there was a negative relationship between the bonds leadership styles of managersʹ with physical education teachersʹ organizational commitment. Also, there was no significant difference between the organizational commitment of male and female teachers. Also, results showed majority of managers use transformational leadership style; and normative commitment aspect of physical education teachers was more than other components of organizational commitment than emotional commitment and the continuous commitment.
