Abstract
This study employed both quantitative and qualitative research design to identify how graduate studentsʹ travel behavior in the Central US varied in leisure behavior, based on comparing Taiwanese students to both other international foreign students and domestic Americans. The study found significant differences in what motivated students to seek travel and leisure during study breaks (push factors). Americans differed from Taiwanese regarding travel motivation, with Americans higher in preferences for being physically active, finding excitement and time with family and friends. Taiwanese and other international students sought time to be free and to find solitude and reflection.
