Abstract :
Computer assisted assessment has already been recognised as a valuable tool in supporting the learning process. This case study describes a ʹmeasurementʹ quiz designed in the web environment and explores its use to support the development of measurement skills. Analysis of engagement and performance suggests that participation in the tests improve the studentsʹ quantification skills. The use of e-assessment also provides learners with immediate formative feedback and enables them to gain confidence with the subject. The paper also identifies the importance of fully integrating the on-line quizzes into the delivery of the module. Benefits of a robust report output system means tutors are able to effectively monitor participation and performance enabling them to understand the individualʹs capabilities, often challenging with large cohorts, and provide information for knowledge gap activities.
