Abstract :
ABSTRACT: Echium amoenum is a valuable medicinal plant and native to Iran. This study was intended to find the most suitable hydropriming treatment as a better cultivation method to improve the growth and germination characteristics of Echium amoenum. An experiment was conducted as factorial with completely randomized block design with three replications on the research farm of Islamic Azad University, Varamin Branch. Seeds were hydroprimed with 5 level of temperature: (9° C, 12° C, 15° C, 18° C and 21° C) and in 5 durations (6, 10, 14, 18 and 22 hour) and were planted in the farm conditions. The results showed that effects of priming treatments on all evaluated qualities (final percentage of seedling emergence, seedling emergence rate, concentration of gibberellins hormone and seedling dry weight) was very significant. The seeds primed at 15?c for 14hr significantly differed from other treatments and showed the highest improvement on the intended qualities. Besides the increase of temperature and time of priming beyond desirable extent had no benefit for intended qualities. Therefore it can be said that in priming technique having information about temperature and duration had significant effect on the results of the test
