Abstract :
The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between winning tendency with the sports achievement/success of the elite athletes of the South Khorasan province in Iran. Correlation co efficiency method was used in the present study, and the objectives were applied. In order to collect the required data, a survey-based method of data collection was tailored. The research instrument consisted of two questionnaires of multidimensional sport personship orientations scale (MSOS) and sports achievement scale (SAS), respectively. Using Cronbachʹs alpha coefficient the reliability estimation for the questionnaires were 0.77 and 0. 92. The research population involved a number of 131 elite athletes in South Khorasan Province in Iran who were surveyed using the census/enumeration approach. SPSS software and Pearson correlation coefficient test were used to analyze the collected raw data. Research findings show that the winning tendency was prevalent among these athletes, but there was no significant relationship at the level of P > 0/05 between the athletes’ sporting success and winning tendency.
