Molecular iodine oxidative cyclocondesation of ortho-aminobenzamide with aryl aldehydes A new and efficient access to quinazolin-4(3H)-ones

A new and efficient access to quinazolin-4(3H)-ones by employing molecular iodine for the oxidative cyclocondensation of ortho-aminobenzamide with aryl aldehydes is presented. The reaction proceeded in a short period of time with excellent yields.
