Abstract :
We study the maximum order of torsion elements inGL(n, Z) and Aut(Fn), denotedG(n) andH(n), respectively. We prove a Landau-type estimate log, and we show thatH(n) = G(n) if and only ifn ≠ 2, 6, 12.
