Bounds on Orders of Finite Subgroups ofPGLn(K)

We characterize the pairs (K, n),Ka field,na positive integer, for which there is a bound on the orders of finite subgroups ofPGLn(K). Explicit bounds are given in important cases. An application is made to the analogous problem for central simpleK-algebras of degreen.
