Multiple hooks in Kronecker products of Sn characters and a conjecture of Berele and Imbo

In this paper we prove a conjecture due to A. Berele and T. Imbo, concerning the appearance of multiple hook characters as components in Kronecker products of complex irreducible characters of the symmetric group. Our proof is constructive and the required multiple hooks are computed combinatorially.
