When every self-small module is finitely generated

The aim of this paper is to give necessary and sufficient conditions for rings for which every right self-small module is finitely generated. It is proved that: semi-simple rings, commutative perfect rings and right nonsingular Σ-extending rings have this property; a right nonsingular semi-prime ring has the property if and only if it is semi-simple; a commutative noetherian ring has the property if and only if it is artinian.
