Abstract
An analysis both of the physico-chemical properties and the radionuclide concentrations in some soil samples obtained in the vicinity of Lake Tygish (Sverdlovsk Region, Middle Urals, Russia) are reported. By taking into account the meteorological parameters of the region, a model has been developed and applied to the experimental data. A good agreement with the experimental data for 90Sr concentration was obtained by assuming, respectively, an effective transport velocity (veff) varying between 0.1 and 0.8 cm yr−1 and an effective diffusion coefficient (Deff) varying between 0.4 and 3.4 cm2 yr−1 from the surface to a depth of 40 cm. These results may be useful for the estimation of the propagation of 90Sr in such kinds of soil.
