Networked calix[4]arene polymers with unusual mechanical properties

Polymeric networks built from calix[4]arenes that form a three dimensional folded structure have been predicted to exhibit negative Poissonʹs ratios (auxetic), an unusual property which makes them superior to conventional materials in many practical applications.
