Abstract :
The 14th Annual Conference of the Australasian Society for Psychophysiology was characterised by a broad representation of neuroscientific and cognitive neuroscientific techniques and sub disciplines. Techniques included event related potentials, single cell neurophysiology, EEG, psychophysics, fMRI, and MEG, as well as general physiological measures. Sub disciplines ranged from sleep to multisensory attention, from psychopharmacology to sex differences and clinical studies from ADHD to schizophrenia. A second characteristic of the conference was its emphasis on young investigators, as evident in the selection of key-note speakers: David Alais from the University of Sydney, Kristen Pammer from the ANU, Susan Rossell from the MHRI and Mark Williams from the University of Melbourne. Workshops again preceded the conference this year, with an fMRI workshop run by Ross Cunnington from the Howard Florey Institute and a TMS workshop run by Paul Fitzgerald from Alfred Psychiatry.
