Abstract :
The feasibility of producing planting materials of Sepat (Mitragyna speciosa) via vegetative propagation was assessed. The production of rooted cuttings from potted stock plants was also monitored. Results show that Sepat cuttings did not necessarily require rooting hormone for root initiation. All nodes from the tip down to the 8th segment could be rooted. Node 1 or the tip was the most responsive explant to use as it produced more and healthier roots. The potted stock plants of Sepat were only productive for two years.
