Highlighting the role of policy in nursing practice through a comparison of “DNR” policy influences and “No CPR” decision influences

The availability of life supports and our demonstrated propensity to use them indicates that controls or guidelines are crucially important. The findings of this descriptive-comparative study of the prevalence, content, and influences of “do not resuscitate” policies and of “no cardiopulmonary resuscitation” decision influences contribute to an understanding of low “do not resuscitate” policy implementation and highlight the role of policy in nursing.
