Abstract :
I learned during a recent trip to Great Britain that Queen Victoria adored her husband Prince Albert, as probably no woman had loved a man before, or maybe since, her sovereignty as queen. That tribute to that great and unending love and dedication was never so keenly felt as on the night of Sunday, June 27, 1999. It was on this night when thousands of nurses from throughout the world crowded into Royal Albert Hall for the opening ceremony of the centennial conference of the International Council of Nurses. A person might ask: ″How does an ordinary nurse take part in and benefit from such an extraordinary nursing event?” The answer to this question became apparent to me from the moment I crossed the threshold of the Royal Albert Hall and the International Council of Nurses Centennial conference began.
