Abstract :
A field validation of a diffusive sampler for the assessment of personal exposure to sawing fumes from pine has been performed. The sampling rate for the main constituents in these fumes, the monoterpenes α-pinene, β-pinene and Δ3-carene, is determined to 8.6, 8.6 and 8.3 ml min−1, respectively. Carbon disulfide is a suitable solvent for desorption from the charcoal, which is the sorbent used. Analysis of the compounds should be performed within one week after air sampling.
