Microalgal ecotoxicity test with 3,4 - dichloroaniline

Microscopic examinations of the Selenastrum capricomutum cells were made to count the cells and observe any damage or deterioration. The cells were investigated using the computer program “MultiScan” coupled with Optiphot 2 light microscope (Nikon) and the camera CC20P (Bishop). In examination following the morphological and morphometrical parameters were used: length, width and area of the cells (size), the object specific perimeter to the “moon” shape (convex and concave perimeter , width of cell wall and cardinal angle on the length of the cell). However, the interior of cells was examined to depict distributions of structures with varied absorbency, defined as green and grey surfaces. These surfaces were determined owing to a special filters in “MultiScan” program according to their different absorbency in the occupied area.
