Changes in the properties of post-flotation wastes due to vegetation introduced during process of reclamation

The paper presents the results from the research on dolomite post-flotation wastes from Zn and Pb ores, carried out on the settling pond in Trzebionka Mine (Trzebinia, Katowice voivodeship, Poland). Due to the vegetation, introduced on the experimental area, the reaction of wastes has changed (from pH 8.4 to 6.9), their sorption capacity as well as ability to retain water increased. An increase in the solubility of heavy metals such as Pb and Zn was also observed.
