Abstract
The predicted behavior of the size- and chemical-composition distribution of the ambient aerosol in the Los Angles area is examined as it changes in response to specific emissions control strategies. Detailed control plans that would reduce the emissions of primary particles, sulfur oxides, ammonia, reactive organic gases and oxides of nitrogen will be considered in turn. The effects of each control strategy on the size and composition distribution of the ambient aerosol will be examined and the implications for visibility improvement and health effects will be discussed.
