Abstract
The goal of this work was to study the potential of multicriteria decision making performance in plant design with the aid of process integration. Generally, the industrial process plant design problems are multiobjective, because there is a need to fulfill different criteria at the same time. In this paper, the hierarchical decision making methodology is presented, where environmental and safety regulations, and growing demand of the product quality were also taken into account. A case study of calcination kiln, followed by flue gas cleaning and heat recovery systems, is given as an example.
