Public housing-led recreation development in Singapore

Beginning in 1960, spurred by a deliberate policy of urban development, the landscape of Singapore has undergone massive changes. In less than three decades more than 85˜PC of the population has been relocated from former slums and ethnic enclaves into new high-rise, high-density public housing and provided with a whole new spectrum of ‘doorstep’ play and recreation opportunities in the new urban fabric.
