Rapidly Forced Planar Vector Fields and Splitting of Separatrices

We prove that for analytic rapidly forced two dimensional systems the Melnikov function is exponentially small with respect to the period. We provide an example of non validity of Melnikov′s method and we obtain upper bounds for conservative and analytic planar systems for big amplitude periodic rapidly forcing.
