Abstract :
A combination of complementary approaches, dealing with the natural and the man-made sulphur sources respectively, is employed to show the power of the isotopic method to distinguish quantitatively between atmospheric sulphur sources. At two remote European sites we found that 15–20% of the sampled aerosol sulphur was biogenic in origin rising to 30% in spring and summer.
