Weak∗ locally uniformly rotund norms and descriptive compact spaces

We prove that a dual Banach space X∗ has an equivalent W∗LUR norm if and only if the weak∗ topology has a σ-isolated network. We give sufficient conditions for the existence of equivalent norms with various kinds of differentiability.
