Utilization of ferrites for water treatment

Utilization of chemically precipitated ferrites for water treatment has been studied. In acidic media ferrites act as adsorbents of impurities contained in untreated water and as desorbents in alkaline media. The parameters of sorption such as pH, mixing conditions, concentration and type of alkaline agent etc. have been stated. Detailed research has led to the technology of water cleaning, which is schematically described. The results of the treatment of samples from the river Vltava are discussed in comparison with conventional water clarification methods.
