Abstract :
The effect of hexavalent chromium on the growth rate of activated sludge bacteria was studied under chemostatic cultivation. Chromium (CrVI) in the range to 11 mg/l decreases the maximum growth rate μmax and increases the Monod constant Ks. Its effect can be described by a generalized form of the kinetic equation in the form The values of μmax, Ks, p, q, r were estimated as 0.5253 h−1, 1.2071 mg/l, −0.07941 l/mg, −0.070025 l/mg, 1.758517 l/mg respectively.
