Synthesis of a bifunctional hapten designed to mimic both transition state and to induce “bait and switch” catalysis

An α-aminophosphinic ester based hapten was synthesized to mimic both transition state and to induce “bait and switch” catalysis. This bifunctional hapten was designed to test the feasibility of combining two mechanisms for inducing catalysis in a single molecule with the intent of eliciting more efficient antibody catalysts.
